Curate Your Joy: How Art can elevate your home experience.
BOUNDLESS - 110cm x 150cm - Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
Some things really are worth waiting for. Last week I heard from a collector who had purchased this painting of mine, “Boundless”, over a year ago. She and her husband were building a house, their dream home, on the West coast of Scotland. The house wasn’t yet finished, but this collector already had a vision and was gathering pieces of art in anticipation and as a way of keeping her focus on the dream, during the harsh reality and setbacks that come with a building project.
I love hearing from collectors and seeing my paintings in their homes. It not only transforms the space, but often brings extra life to the painting when it has found it’s perfect spot.
Art can change the way you feel and think within your own space, helping your home become a place that restores or uplifts you, depending on what you need. It can also deepen your sense of personal identity. When your surroundings reflect your inner world, your memories, tastes and values, you feel more grounded. Art invites reflection. This kind of visual thinking can be calming, even meditative, offering moments of pause in otherwise busy routines. Art builds connection, to yourself and others. Pieces often carry stories; where you found them, why you chose them, what they remind you of. These layers of meaning make your home feel alive and feel like you.
It’s always really special to see someone make an emotional connection with a painting - it’s just paint on canvas until someone falls in love with it.
